So how committed are you?
April 11th, 2008
Do you as a person fully understand this word? I mean you should if you consider yourself an adult or if you want to be considered and treated as one. I agree that it is hard to achieve or maintain a 100% commitment but sometimes we should.
I ask myself this question every day, sometimes I feel that I don’t have the answer; but sometimes the question itself pushes me to commit to what I do even more, because if you don’t take it seriously it will end up with disappointment, and this why sometimes we don’t want to fall under the burden of commitment.
Just know that when you commit to something a lot of people around you automatically became dependent on you to fulfill it, simply because they love you and they want to see you achieve something, and for some reason if you don’t they will be disappointed, although they might not share that with you but trust me they will.
So be careful, and don’t make bad choices like I did, in other words please don’t disappoint people.
Always try your best, even if you failed at the end, at least you’ve tried.

Indeed, people around you (the ones you love) are the ones that generally make you take decisions you knew from the start they are wrong. But you keep taking them just to make them happy.. so you find yourself commited to something you totally reject/hate inside. The worst part, is when you fail, you disapoint those for whome you’ve taken that very same decision. It just destroys you.
I think one should avoid making choices just to satisfy others, especially when those choices are personal, which your life depends on. You should care about your self esteem, regardless of others’ opinions. They might at first be disapointed of the choice you just made, but once you commit to it, succeed in it, they’ll find out they were wrong, hence will be happy that you have made that choice.
Choices you make independantly, are the ones you commit to, and work hard on, to prove you weren’t wrong, and also to succeed. You might as well fail, but “Develop success from failures. Discouragement and failure are two of the surest stepping stones to success.” as Dale Carnegie said. It’s just a matter of patience. Most people give up just when they’re about to achieve success. because they are not grown up enough. They learn the lesson the hard way.
